An honest series about money in the church: tithes, offerings, pastors' salaries, building funds, and what Scripture actually says versus what we do.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith.
1 Timothy 6:10Let me be clear from the start: I am not against money. I am not against churches having money. I am not against pastors being paid. Money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith.
Jesus talked about money more than almost any other topic in Scripture. He had the most to say about it. Not because He was obsessed with it, but because He knew how much it could distract us from the Kingdom. He knew how easily it could capture our hearts. He knew that where our treasure is, there our hearts will be also.
This series is not an attack on the church. It is a love letter to the church. It is an invitation to have an honest conversation about something that has become uncomfortable. It is a call to align our practice with our theology, our giving with our gospel, and our hearts with our wallets.
If you have ever wondered why churches do what they do with money, if you have ever felt pressure to give you do not feel, if you have ever looked at church budgets and felt confused or troubled, this series is for you.
Come ready to think. Come ready to question. Come ready to be challenged. And come ready to discover what Scripture actually says about money in the church, rather than what we have been told.
