There is a longing woven into every human heart that nothing in this world can fully satisfy. We reach for it in relationships, in achievement, in beauty, in belonging, and we find moments of it, beautiful and real. But the deepest longing remains. Because it was placed there by Someone who intended it to point us home.
You were made for eternity. And the identity you carry as the Bride of Christ is not just for this life. It is your eternal identity, the one that will be fully realized on the day the Bridegroom returns.
"Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready."
Revelation 19:7The entire story of Scripture moves toward a wedding. Creation, fall, redemption, restoration, all of it building toward the moment when the Bride and the Bridegroom are finally, permanently, gloriously united. This is where history is going. This is what your life is part of.
Living With Eternity in View
When you know where the story is going, it changes how you live in the middle of it. The losses do not have the last word. The disappointments are not the final chapter. The suffering, as real and as heavy as it is, is not the end of the story. Paul, who suffered more than most, could say with utter conviction:
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
Romans 8:18Not worth comparing. That is an extraordinary statement from a man who had been shipwrecked, beaten, imprisoned, and abandoned. But he had seen enough of the glory to know that it outweighed everything else on a scale that was not even close.
Making Yourself Ready
Revelation says the Bride made herself ready. This is not the frantic preparation of someone trying to earn their place. The Bride is already chosen, already loved, already betrothed. This is the preparation of a Bride who is so in love with her Bridegroom that she wants to be ready when He comes.
Live With an Eternal Perspective
When decisions feel heavy and circumstances feel impossible, ask: "How will this look from eternity?" That question does not minimize present pain. It contextualizes it. It reminds you that you are living inside a story with a glorious ending.
Invest in What Lasts
Relationships, character, the Kingdom of God, these are eternal investments. The things that feel most urgent in the moment are often the least eternal. Let eternity shape your priorities. What are you giving your best energy to? Is it what will last?
Cultivate Longing
Do not be afraid of the deep longing that this world cannot satisfy. That longing is holy. It is the Spirit within you crying out for home. Let it draw you deeper into God rather than sending you looking for substitutes. Let it make you ready.
You Are Already His
Wherever you are in your journey, whether you feel close to God today or far away, whether your faith feels strong or fragile, whether this season is beautiful or very hard, this remains true: you are the Bride of Christ. Chosen before the foundation of the world. Loved with an everlasting love. Being prepared for a glory that will make every present struggle seem light and momentary.
Hold on. He is coming. And He is coming for you.
This is who you are. This is where your story is going. Live from this identity today, and every day, until the day you see Him face to face and know, fully and finally, that every whisper of His love was true.
He is faithful. He has always been faithful. and He always will be.
Father, thank you for making me your Bride, chosen from before the foundation of the world. Help me to live with eternity in view, investing in what lasts and cultivating deep longing for your return. Make me ready for the day I see you face to face. In Jesus Name, Amen.
With honesty and hope,
Claire
