7-Day Series · Friendship with Jesus

The Jesus You May Have Missed

He was not mild. He got tired. He wept. He asked questions instead of giving answers. He made breakfast on the beach after the resurrection. This is a reintroduction to a Jesus more alive and more human than you may have been shown.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

The Jesus the Gospels show us and the one we often miss

Somewhere between flannel-board Sunday school and systematic theology, a lot of us picked up a Jesus who was more symbol than person. Gentle and mild. Serene and other-worldly. More stained glass than human being.

But the Gospels show someone different. Someone who got genuinely angry at injustice. Who wept at a tomb even knowing He was about to raise the person inside it. Who got tired enough to sleep through a storm. Who sat with outsiders and asked questions instead of delivering speeches.

You do not need to clean yourself up before you meet Him. He spent most of His ministry with people who had not.
