"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
I am not going to give you a list of things to try. I am not going to tell you to pray harder or believe more or look on the bright side. I know how those words land when you are in the dark. They land like stones.
I have been where you might be right now. Not metaphorically. I have sat on the floor of my own life and wondered whether anything would ever be different. I have experienced darkness that had weight and texture to it. And I have experienced what it feels like when God shows up in the middle of that and does not leave.
That is what I want to tell you first. Before anything else. God does not leave. He does not require you to have it together before He comes near. He does not need you to have the right words or the right posture or the right amount of faith. He just needs you to be here. And you are here. That matters more than you know right now.
What is below on this page is not a program or a formula. It is a collection of things that have helped me and that I believe can help you. Take what you need. Come back when you need more. There is no rush.
You are not too broken. You are not too far. You have not run out of time. His mercies are new every morning, and this morning belongs to you.
Darkness is very good at making lies feel certain. Read these slowly. You do not have to believe them yet. Just let them sit with you.
These are not inspirational thoughts. They are honest words for people who are in it, written by someone who has been in it too.
Sometimes you are too empty to find the words yourself. If that is where you are, you can borrow these. God receives them as if they are your own, because right now, they are.
These are real people who are trained to help. Reaching out is not weakness. It is one of the bravest things you can do. Please use them.
