Hidden Faith Still Carries Weight in Heaven

8 min read

Hidden faith still carries weight in heaven. Not everything that matters is visible. Not everything that counts is measurable. Some faith is hidden, but it is still seen.

We think faith is visible. We think it is measurable. We think if we have faith, others will see it. We think if we believe, it will be obvious.

But the Bible does not teach that. The Bible tells us about hidden faith. Faith that is not seen. Faith that is not measured. Faith that is hidden, but still carries weight.

This is what we forget. We think faith must be visible. But faith can be hidden, and it still matters.

The Faith That Hides

Turn with me to the Gospel of Mark. There is a woman who has been bleeding for twelve years:

"There was a woman with a discharge of blood for twelve years, who had endured many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, 'If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be healed.' Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, 'Who touched My clothes?' But His disciples said to Him, 'You see the crowd thronging You, and You say, Who touched Me?' And He looked around to see who had done this. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him all the truth. And He said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your disease.'"

Mark 5:25-34

Your faith has made you well.

She touched His garment. She was hidden in the crowd. No one saw her. No one knew.

But Jesus knew. He felt the power go out. He knew someone had touched Him in faith.

Her faith was hidden. But it was seen. It was known. It was rewarded.

This is what we forget. Hidden faith is still seen.

The Faith That Is Secret

And then there is this, from the Sermon on the Mount:

"Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do charitable deeds, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your charitable deeds may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."

Matthew 6:1-4

Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.

That is hidden faith. Secret giving. Invisible service.

But your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Hidden faith is seen. Hidden giving is known. Hidden service is rewarded.

This is what we need to hear. Not everything has to be visible. Not everything has to be seen. Not everything has to be measured.

Because God sees in secret. And He rewards.

The Faith That Endures

And then there is this, from the Gospel of Luke:

"And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come at once and sit down to eat'? But will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat, and gird yourself and serve me till I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink'? Does he thank that servant because he did what he was commanded? I think not. Likewise you also, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what we ought to have done.'"

Luke 17:7-10

We are unprofitable servants.

This is hidden faith. Faith that does not expect reward. Faith that serves without thanking. Faith that endures without recognizing.

We think faith must be visible. We think faith must be rewarded. We think faith must be seen.

But faith can be hidden. Faith can be secret. Faith can be unthanked, and still matter.

This is what we forget. Hidden faith carries weight in heaven.

The Weight That Matters

So what does this mean for us? It means that not everything we do will be seen. Not everything we give will be known. Not everything we believe will be measured.

And that is okay.

Because God sees in secret. He knows in heaven. He weighs what cannot be measured.

I know what it is to have hidden faith. I know what it is to believe when no one sees. I know what it is to give when no one knows.

And I know what it is to wonder: Does it matter? Does anyone see? Does anyone know?

But the Bible says yes. Hidden faith carries weight. Secret giving is known. Invisible service is rewarded.

That is what we need to hear. Not everything that matters is visible. Not everything that counts is measurable.

Some faith is hidden. But it is still seen.

✦ A Moment to Sit With

Try This Today

Ask yourself honestly: Is my faith hidden? Bring that to Him in prayer. Ask Him to help you trust even when no one sees. Hidden faith carries weight in heaven.

We measure faith by numbers. By appearances. By what we can see.

But God measures faith differently. He measures what cannot be seen. He weighs what cannot be measured.

Hidden faith carries weight in heaven. That is what we need to remember.

Not everything that matters is visible. Not everything that counts is measurable. Some faith is hidden, but it is still seen.

✦ ✦ ✦

Father, thank You for seeing hidden faith. Forgive me for needing visibility. Teach me to trust even when no one sees. Let my faith carry weight in heaven, whether seen or not. In Jesus Name, Amen.

With honesty and hope,
Claire
