A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.
Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 (NIV)The Struggle with Timing
We want healing now. Not tomorrow. Not next year. Now. And when it does not come on our timeline, we think something is wrong. But God's timing is different from ours. And His timing is always better.
God is not late. He is not early. He is on time, which often feels late to us because we want things done on our schedule. But God's timing is perfect. His delays are not denials.
Trusting God's timing is an expression of faith. It says, "I trust You even when I do not understand. I trust You even when I do not see. I trust You even when it seems like nothing is happening."
Why God Takes Time
Sometimes healing takes time because we need to grow into it. The character that healing produces is more important than the healing itself. Patience. Faith. Trust. These are formed in the waiting.
Sometimes healing takes time because others need to see our faith. Others are watching to see if we really believe what we say we believe. Our patience in waiting testifies to our faith.
Sometimes healing takes time because God wants to do a deeper work. Not just fixing the wound, but transforming the person. The transformation often takes longer than the fixing.
Waiting Well
Waiting is not passive. It is active trust. It is choosing to believe while you wait. It is choosing to worship while you wait. It is choosing to serve while you wait.
Waiting is not giving up. It is continuing to trust. It is refusing to let the enemy convince you that God has forgotten you or abandoned you.
The promise is clear: "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord" (Psalm 27:14). Strength comes in the waiting. But you have to wait well.
Wait with Worship
Today, when you feel impatient about timing, worship instead. Thank Him that His timing is perfect. Thank Him that His delays are not denials. Thank Him that your healing is coming.
- What am I struggling to wait for?
- What would it look like to wait with worship?
- How has God proven faithful in waiting before?
- What does patience look like in my healing journey?
- How has waiting produced character in my life?
- What would I tell someone who is struggling to wait?
Pray: "Father, I trust Your timing. I do not understand it, but I trust You. Help me wait well. Help me trust more. My healing is in Your hands."
Father, I trust Your timing.
I do not always understand why healing takes so long. But I trust You. I believe You are working even when I cannot see it. Help me to wait with faith.
My healing is coming. Your timing is perfect. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Waiting is not empty. It is full of purpose. Every moment of waiting is a moment of growing. Trust the timing. Your healing is coming.
With honesty and hope,
Claire
