Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him. Do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

The Rest Jesus Offers

Jesus invites us into rest. Not rest as in sleeping, though that is part of it. But rest as in cessation of striving, worrying, striving. Rest as in trust.

He says, "I will give you rest." This is not earned. It is given. Received, not achieved. It is a gift. Accept it.

Then He says, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me." A yoke is a wooden beam that joins two oxen together so they can plow a field. When you take His yoke, you are not carrying the burden alone. You are working with Him, not against Him.

Why Rest Is Hard

We live in a culture that prizes productivity. Rest feels like laziness. Waiting feels like wasting. Trusting feels like abdicating responsibility.

But God does not measure success the same way the world does. God does not need you to perform. He does not need you to earn. He simply needs you to receive.

Rest is not the absence of activity. It is the presence of trust. Rest is doing what you can and leaving the rest to Him. Rest is planting the seed and trusting Him for the growth.

How to Rest in Healing

Rest in healing means trusting the process. Trusting that what God started, He will complete. Not rushing the timing. Not forcing the outcome.

Rest means letting Him do the work. Not trying to heal yourself. Not manipulating your emotions. Just being present with Him and letting Him work.

Rest means lying down when you are tired. Taking breaks when you need them. Not pushing past your limits. Honoring your body as His temple.

The Promise of Rest

"You will find rest for your souls." Not just your body. Your soul. The deepest part of you. The part that carries the wounds. That is where He gives rest.

This is what you need. Not just physical rest. Soul rest. The kind of rest that comes from knowing you are safe, loved, held. The kind of rest that comes from trusting Him completely.

I rest in the Lord. I trust the process. I receive His rest. I stop striving and start trusting. My soul finds rest in Him.

Take a Rest

Today, take a deliberate time of rest. Not doing anything productive. Not worrying about anything. Just being with God. Let your soul find rest.

  • Why is rest so hard for me?
  • What does soul rest look like for me?
  • How can I rest more intentionally?
  • What is the difference between resting and being lazy?
  • How does rest help my healing?
  • What would change if I truly rested in God?

Close your eyes. Breathe. Listen to His voice: "Come to me... and I will give you rest." Receive it. You do not have to earn it. You do not have to deserve it. Just receive.

✦ ✦ ✦

Jesus, I come to You.

I lay down my striving. I lay down my worry. I lay down my need to control everything. I receive Your rest.

Give me the rest my soul needs. Teach me to rest in You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Rest is not given to those who have earned it. It is given to those who need it. You need it. Receive it. Your soul will thank you. Your healing will flourish in the soil of rest.

With honesty and hope,
