The Freedom You Have Been Given

Paul writes that it is "for freedom that Christ has set us free." This is not partial freedom. This is not temporary freedom. This is complete, total, absolute freedom. The kind of freedom that changes everything about how you live.

Jesus said, "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). This is not freedom from hard circumstances. It is freedom from the inside out. Freedom from the bondages that held you. Freedom from the lies that controlled you. Freedom from the wounds that defined you.

This is the freedom you have been walking toward in this series. Not just the feeling of being okay. The actual freedom that comes from being completely set free by the One who has all authority.

Freedom Is a Present Reality, Not Just a Future Hope

Many Christians live as if freedom is something they might get someday, if they are good enough, pray hard enough, believe strongly enough. But freedom is not earned. It is received. It is already yours because of what Jesus did.

The moment you received Christ, you were set free. The chains fell off. The prison doors opened. The debt was paid. You might not have felt it at the time. You might not feel it now. But it is done. Your freedom is a present reality, not a future hope.

The question is not "Will I be free someday?" The question is "Will I walk in the freedom I already have?" Will you live like you are free? Will you act like you are free? Will you believe you are free?

What Does Walking in Freedom Look Like?

Walking in freedom looks like refusing to go back into the prison. It looks like not picking up the chains you laid down. It looks like living like the free person you are, not the wounded person you were.

Walking in freedom looks like speaking truth even when the lie is loud. It looks like choosing healing even when the wound is tempting. It looks like living in victory even when the enemy tries to bring you back into bondage.

This is not pretending everything is okay. It is knowing that everything is going to be okay because what God started, He will complete. It is knowing that the battle is already won. It is just walking in the victory you have already been given.

Guarding Your Freedom

Paul says "stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery" (Galatians 5:1). This means freedom requires vigilance. The enemy wants to bring you back into bondage. He wants to put the yoke back on your neck.

This is why the healing journey does not end. You have to guard what you have received. You have to protect your freedom. You have to watch for the enemy's schemes to bring you back under the yoke.

Guarding your freedom looks like fixing your eyes on Jesus, not on your wounds. It looks like staying in His Word, not in your memories. It looks like walking in the Spirit, not in the flesh. It looks like fellowship with Him, not isolation from Him.

The Life You Were Meant to Live

God did not save you just to get you out of hell. He saved you to give you the life you were meant to live. The abundant life. The fulfilling life. The purposeful life. The free life.

This is what healing leads to. Not just being free from the past. Being free for the future. Free to become who God created you to be. Free to do what He called you to do. Free to live the life He gave you.

You are not who you were. You are who He is making you. You are not your wounds. You are His healing. You are not your past. You are His future. And the future is bright.

Welcome to your freedom. Welcome to your healing. Welcome to your life.

Christ has set me free. I am free indeed. I will not let anyone put me back in bondage. I walk in my healing. I walk in my freedom. I walk in my wholeness. This is my life now.

Live Like You Are Free

Today, make one choice that reflects your freedom. Something you would not have done before healing. Something that shows you believe you are free. Let your freedom be visible to others.

This is what you came for. This is who you are now. Live like it.

  • How is my life different now than when I started this series?
  • What does walking in freedom look like for me personally?
  • What is the future God has called me to?
  • How has my relationship with God changed through this healing journey?
  • What am I free TO do that I was not free to do before?
  • How can I help others find the freedom I have found?

Thank God for your healing. Thank Him for your freedom. Thank Him for the journey. Then ask: "What do You want me to do with the freedom You have given me?" Listen for His answer. He has plans for you.

✦ ✦ ✦

Jesus, thank You for setting me free.

Thank You for the healing I have received. Thank You for the journey that brought me here. Thank You for the new life I have been given.

I receive my freedom. I walk in my freedom. I live in my freedom. And I will not go back into bondage.

Use me to help others find the freedom I have found. In Jesus Name, Amen.

You are free. You are healed. You are whole. This is not the end of your journey. This is the beginning. The life you were meant to live is waiting. Go and live it.

With honesty and hope,
Claire
