Christmastide

The season between Christmas and Epiphany. Twelve days of celebrating the incarnation, remembering the martyrs, and beholding the Light of the world.

Most Protestants have never heard of Christmastide. We celebrate Christmas Day, and then we move on. But the ancient church knew better. The twelve days from December 25 to January 6 were one continuous celebration of the incarnation. The Word became flesh. God is with us. And that story does not end on December 25. It continues to unfold.

This series walks through each day of Christmastide. Some days remember saints who gave their lives for the Christ child. Some days explore what it means to live in the light that entered the world. Some days simply sit with the mystery of God-with-us, present in the days after the celebration, before the next great feast.

You do not have to be Catholic or liturgical to observe Christmastide. You simply have to believe that the birth of Jesus deserves more than one day of celebration.
