January 4. Ten days past Christmas. Two days until Epiphany. The anticipation is almost over. The revelation is almost here.
There is something powerful about the countdown. Advent is a countdown to Christmas. Christmastide is a countdown to Epiphany. And the whole Christian life is a countdown to the return of Christ. We are always waiting. Always anticipating. Always on the edge of something new.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 6:20Jesus taught about treasures in heaven. And Epiphany points to the same truth: the treasure is not in the world. The treasure is in the revelation of Christ. Everything else is temporary. Only He is eternal.
Father, thank you for the anticipation. Thank you that something is always coming, always being revealed. Help me to be ready for Epiphany, and for every revelation you have planned. In Jesus' name, Amen.
With honesty and hope,
Claire
