January 2. Eight days past Christmas. The world has moved on. But Christmastide says: not yet. Stay in the light.
An octave is an eight-day period. The ancient church used it for major feasts. Christmas is not a single day. It is a season. And the season continues.
So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
Romans 12:5Paul wrote about the body of Christ. And that is what Christmastide points to: the body of believers, united in Christ, celebrating together. Not alone, but together. Not just on December 25, but every day.
Father, thank you for the eight days of Christmas. Thank you for the practice of staying in the light. Help me to carry this season in my heart, not just on a calendar. In Jesus' name, Amen.
With honesty and hope,
Claire
