For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christâby grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 2:4-5Your identity as the Bride of Christ existed before you did. Before creation, before time, before your first breath, God saw you as His beloved. He chose you not because of what you would become, but because of who He is. He created you for relationship, not for performance. He designed you for intimacy, not for productivity.
Yet so many of us live like our identity is something we have to earn, something we have to prove, something we have to maintain. We build our identity on what we do, what we have, what others think of us. But all of those things can change. Jobs can be lost. Relationships can end. Health can fail. Opinions can shift.
But your identity as the Bride of Christ cannot be shaken. It cannot be lost. It cannot be diminished. It is eternally secure because it's not based on you - it's based on Him. It's not based on your performance - it's based on His love. It's not based on your worthiness - it's based on His grace.
When you truly understand this, something shifts in you. The striving ceases. The performance stops. The fear of rejection disappears. Because you're not trying to earn something you already have. You're not trying to prove something that's already been established. You're not trying to maintain something that's eternally secure.
Live From Your Eternal Identity
Today, whenever you feel the pressure to perform, to prove, to earn, pause and remind yourself: "My identity as the Bride of Christ is eternal and secure. I don't have to earn what has already been given." Do this as many times as you need throughout the day. Notice how this changes your thoughts and actions.
Father, thank You for giving me an eternal identity. Thank You for choosing me before creation, for loving me before I could love You, for establishing my worth before I could do anything worthy. Help me to live from this identity today, not for it. Help me to rest in Your love instead of striving for Your approval. Let me live as Your beloved Bride, secure in who I am to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Your identity is not something you have to find. It's someone you already are. You are the Bride of Christ.
With honesty and hope, Claire
